XV – The Square in the Circle

xv square in the circle

XV dropped the most creative and innovative concept mixtape of 2008 with The Square In The Circle. He built a considerable online buzz with the Lil Wayne track “U Got It”. X is the star in a highly conceptual, sci-fi based musical opus about a Square from the distant planet Squaria. Hes a loner that doesnt go out. Squaria is a metaphor for being alienated to the point hes literally an alien. He arrives in his spaceship to the circle otherwise known as earth. The spaceship represents him wanting to getaway, transitioning from socially outcast to socially accepted. Earth is round and symbolizes the inner circle or the in crowd. He tries to fit in and fails. Like an alien visiting Earth, no matter how hard it would try to disguise itself its mannerisms, customs, and distinctive physical features would cause it to stick out. Instead of revamping his whole identity to fit in, he compromises in the Coolniverse. A world universe all of his own creation where being himself, geeky/nerdy is cool. He can talk about video games and comic books and still get props from the hipsters, the gangsters and everyone in between. Thats where you get the whole concept of Square in the Circle. Hes bringing about a paradigm shift by making things like getting good grades and being on the honor roll once thought to be square, cool. I can really respect that. XV brings along a few worthy shipmates for the ride including Chromeo, Freezepop, Seven, MGMT and Justice. This is one intergalactic space trip you dont want to miss!
